Video content vs text content

Perhaps, the first thing that comes to our mind when hearing about the content for a product sales page is a long text about the product's features to guide the customer further and keep him on the product page; But research shows that 72% of people prefer using video to get to know a service or product over text content. Audiences who have spent their entire day studying and doing complex mental activities are more receptive to watching a short video (or a long one) than reading a short text.

Although reading a text reviewing the product's features can convey lots of information to the audience, it is the product video that can reveal the main truth of the product to the audience and win "audience trust".

Watching a video content, provides the customers more confidence about the product they intend to buy. By watching a product video, the customer can see the product in its actual working conditions, which words and pictures cannot do.

Characteristic of an appropriate video for product introduction

Although video is more attractive to the audience than all other media, its use with the aim of attracting the audience requires compliance with certain principles and features.

  •  Product introduction video should be short enough. Research shows that the audience connects more with short videos than with long videos. 30-second videos are viewed in their entirety, while 10-20-minute videos are usually abandoned by the audience.
  • The video should be well and easily viewable on the mobile screen. Today, more than 50% of videos viewed are viewed on smartphones. For this reason, videos in which there is no need to rotate the camera are considered more user-friendly.
  • Although music, voice, and speech on video are considered to be superior to photos, audiences prefer to watch the videos they watch on smart devices without sound. For this reason, it is better to subtitle the verbal content of the video or make them written as a caption below it.
